Weekly Homework Expectations for Year 1
Read 3 x weekly (more is always encouraged please) – This is not linked to Golden Time but children will be individually rewarded with house points for their efforts in Reading.
Reading Diaries will be checked daily with house points awarded on Fridays.

PE is on a Wednesday, please make sure children come in to school with their PE kit on.
Welcome to Kingfisher Class!
English - We will reading the story 'The Way Home for Wolf'. We will be writing a re-tell of this story in our own words. We will later write a story inspired by the Arctic. We will continue to focus on letter formation, where to write on the page, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Maths - We will looking further at addition and subtraction this half term. We will be exploring number fact families, number bonds to 10, part whole models and writing number sentences.
Science - We will be exploring materials and their properties. We will compare and describe materials and sort them into groups.
Geography - We are going to be learning about The Artic this half term. We will learn where the Arctic is, what the climate is like and what animals live there.
DT - We are making Christmas decorations this half term.
PSHE - We will be learning about family and friendships.
Computing - We will learn how to use a mouse (or trackpad) by drawing and editing shapes.

Sharer books...
We will be sending home sharer books for you to enjoy with your child at home. This is a separate book to your child's reading book. We will aim to change these on a Monday and Friday, you are welcome to keep them longer than this if you are still enjoying the story at home!
