A Keinton Theologist Can...

At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, we follow the egreed Somerset Syllabus for Religious Education, 'Awareness, Mystery and Value'.  This is the statutory programme for teaching Religious Education that all Somerset schools must adhere to.  Please see below for the content of this programme.

Curriculum Intent:

At Keinton Mandeville Primary School we promote an environment where all children feel known, accepted, and valued as individuals, within a caring community. We are concerned with the promotion of each pupil’s self-worth, enabling them to reflect on their uniqueness as human beings, to share their feelings and emotions with others and to appreciate the importance of forming and maintaining positive relationships. The principle aim of Religious Education is to engage pupils in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions and worldviews in the local, national and wider global community. RE enables pupils to appreciate their own and others’ beliefs and cultures, helping them to develop a clear understanding of the significance of religion in their own area as well as in the world today. Our RE curriculum intends to promote religious understanding and respect, and to challenge prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping. Religious Education is taught in accordance with the Somerset Agreed Syllabus.
