Sculpture 4 - Grounded

GROUNDED

This is a plastic sculpture of a seabird. We chose a sea bird because they are one of the animals that ingest the most amount of plastic in their bodies. It is made using four plastic bottles for the legs, six bottle lids for the toes, a big bottle for the body, the end of a bottle for the beak and two bottle lids for the eyes. We attached them together by tying lots of strips of plastic bags and elastic bands around them.

The width of it is 13cm and  it is 54cm long. We stuffed plastic bags in the body so the beak could fit in and wrapped plastic bags around it so it would stay in position and stay still.

Some sea birds may have lots of plastic in their bodies and could die from all the plastic waste that they are consuming. They are weighed down and this prevents them from flying.

It would help if you could respect the problem of pollution more and try to recycle and reduce plastic waste.
